ITS OURS AFTER ALL, ISN’T IT?

The human body is one of the most intricate systems every created with over 37.2 trillion cells, series of network of vessels, veins and muscle, about 206 bones in the adult body and 5.5 litres of blood with 78 organs. Wow that is complex and they never stop working not even when we are asleep, isn’t that awesome

Cars, aircrafts, equipments etc are less sophisticated yet they undergo maintenance. I had the privilege of working at the airport for over seven years and after every flight, light maintenance are carried out, at the end of everyday more detailed maintenance and after about 600hours of flying major overhauls and scheduled maintenance take place. Cars I know go through routine maintenance every three months whether they show signs of any malfunctions or not. We still need to change the oil, grease some parts and replace other parts, yet these things don’t work 24hours a day.

The human body does, it works 24hours a day and non-stop since we were born, even when we sleep. Organs are working in earnest, cells replicating, foods are broken and distributed, rejuvenation of damaged part. Don’t you then think the body needs its rest and maintenance? We need to sleep well, eat right, strengthen our muscles and help the cells by exercising and then medical checks.

Considering all that the body does I think it’s important to maintain it, by checking that every organ is functioning well even without them presenting any symptoms. As we age organs tend to be tired and get overworked by our lifestyle, they give us signs to show they are weary it’s our duty to respond promptly and care for our body. It ours after all, isn’t it?
